Wow who would of ever thought we accomplished a lot this semester everyone! First an for most I am very proud of everyone and myself to complete this semester out strong !! We did that overall, this class was super fun and I learned more about myself and the goals I want to get into with my CT Television major. Hopefully school will be open by the following fall. I will keep maintaining to grow with learning all I need to know about what I want to achieve with purchasing camera an even starting my own podcast.
The final proposal for my New Web series!
Hello Everyone! I can’t wait to share a piece of my old self with you! Cammy’s Corner has been my art child since I was 17, A piece of my safe space became a recording studio when I was 17 and I want to rebirth my child in the real raw world. This year, I have been thinking about my self-care, and what that means is I have been going through a very tough year. I want to share my journey to be able to look back on (when I’m famous of course) to show my growth during a pandemic. why wouldn’t someone want to document that! Take a look at my proposal ( I know wow, amazing) to take a look at where I came form and where I’m going
The last reflection
These last three months, while it’s been a tough and interesting one, has shown me how to excel in my field and persevere no matter the circumstances. While I was lucky enough to take my internship requirement and find a job in my field (And I don’t really want to work a 9-5 but the one I’m in is just fine) I was able to narrow in on my goals. while goal-making has been one of my main priorities during this semester, I’m glad that I was able to tune into it for a moment in time. I was able to do more research on Black women in my field of communications. Linkedin has been my best friend. I have been able to gain over 500+ connections (which isn’t just a number but I was able to talk to/introduce myself to a lot of people) while procrastination has been at my doorstep, I would like to thank myself for being able to achieve this goal. Not only does my LinkedIn look popping, but I have also been able to work towards my graduation, and my ability to be independent and start gaining an income from my art once again. My Final Project, which I’m super excited to present the revival of my web-series! since I have two in mind, I want to have the option of doing half and half- Or just going with my gut and doing the one that makes me happy. I can’t wait to get started on it! I’m hoping that my hard work towards it gets recognized by someone, somewhere and I get my credit where my credit is due. We love that for me. i’m so glad to be ending my semester the way I did, and Itt has me thinking about the way I make goals and knowing how achievable they can be. I’m hoping that someone would be able to come back tto me in a couple ,onths and say , “You did it!”
I really did it.
Presentation Day
hey all,
This semester has flown by so quickly even though it felt like forever while we all stayed indoors. during this semester I had the opportunity to take Motion Graphics and I really enjoyed it and since I progress so much in it I decided to put the majority of my focus on motion graphics and create 2d cutout animations.
To show my motion graphics projects to others I have created a youtube account. there I have most of my animations such as kinetic typography, 2 short 30 second animantion, gifs and more.
Also before I started college I had made a instgram page for my photography. I do need to polish up and add more contect in to but for now im mostly focusing on my animations.
As I learn more I’ll have more content and I feel like I should make a website for myself soon.
Final Reflection
During this course, I have learned many different topics in CT-399 throughout the whole semester. I have felt that to learn the opportunity that helps me to gain and think more about my goals in the future. It helped me to bring the different idea that helps me prepare before when students graduate. This course was new to me, though, in the COVID-19 experience. I never heard Discord or used it in the past. Using Discord wasn’t just like a blackboard. It was easy to learn to use it. I was comfortable after while using it. It is better than using blackboard. I have enjoyed sharing and talking with my classmates in groups. I wished I had used this for the other classes. I liked getting feedback or statements that are important though the semester.
This course also helped me bring my feature to the next step that brought me a big goal. My next step builds up my resume and build up my LinkedIn and communicate and reach out to many different positions that I wanted to apply for. I had never done this course in the past. It was interesting and aspired that was unlike other courses taken in the Communication Technology Major. It was amazing to learn a goal of various topics to achieve, such as professional statement writing in the form of resume/cover letter & job inquiry, understanding the importance of having a strong digital presence, and choosing to support my future goals you want to do.
For this course, it was the big appouch to learn my track for feature peers. I think this course is important for everyone to learn this opportunity. It was the bestย course of my education to learn about the feature goals.
Final Reflection Post
During the whole semester of taking CT 399, I’ve learned a lot from this class. The class really helped make me think more about my goals in the future. Everyone in the class was friendly and helpful to one another. I envy a lot of them who know what they want to do when they graduate. I have learned a lot from listening to others from the final class we had. Everyone seems to have a lot of work out there such as having an Instagram, blog site, and etc. I did put my videos on my YouTube and it’s unlisted, but people told me I should just show off my work and see what happens. Since my original YouTube channel is full of the fun videos I do at school that have nothing to do with my serious work, I decided to separate the videos and put them on another channel. Not much is up right now, but I am working on putting all my stuff up there on the new channel. I’m still unsure what the future holds for me, but I will keep my head up high and keep pushing forward.
I have to say when doing my final project during the semester, the animation was pretty tough since I was tackling new things I haven’t done before. It took many trials and errors, but I managed to learn a lot from it. I got to work with voice actors, mouth movements, and etc. I’m not sure if being an animator is what I want to become due to the amount of work that goes into it. I really enjoy storytelling, so I want to do more production working with other people to create visual stories for people to see. I will still work on learning about animation on the side to have a skill set for companies looking for them. As for internship, I am still looking around to see what I can apply for, I have my resume fixed and ready. I just need to someone to review before anything while still looking for internship. I aim to find an internship that will expand my knowledge as well as helping them with the skills I already have.
Hello, this is my last blog post for CT-399 โ will keep it short UNLIKE my other gibberish posts. Joining this course, initially I had no idea what I was going to learn. I thought maybe, some more web/graphic design, and maybe some heavy writing. Little did I know, this course would teach me skills which greatly expands my intellect in terms of ‘common sense’ โ by training me regarding the critical steps required to have a plan or ‘big goal’ & apply for internships. This is unlike any other class I’ve taken in the Communication Technology Major, taught by the awesome prof. Smith โ we went over everything ranging from; Developing larger goals and taking little steps toward achieving those goals, Professional statement writing in the form of resume/cover letter & job inquiry, understanding the significance of having a strong digital presence, and finally, an extensive amount of research regarding materials that support my future goals.
Communicating and receiving feedback from fellow students was extremely helpful as well. The best part being, this was taught via Discord โ freaking awesome! This is so much better than BlackBoard and everything worked seamlessly.
This course did the trick โ I know my next project and working on a presentation for CT-401 as well. Today’s presentation was just the first part โ will expand upon it further when CT-401 begins.
For now, thanks to CT-399 & prof. Smith โ I have an updated resume, cover, and got my sight on “future peers”. This is the best common sense course I ever took! ๐
Final Reflection
The semester came, seemed to linger, and now it has come to an end. I have done lots of research on people that are in the line of work that I am interested in. I have searched and applied to internships for media companies. I have reached out to many total strangers. I would have never done that before this class. It took a while but I actually got a response from Kaya Tone. She is a production assistant in the media industry. She has a Youtube page filled with her work.
I, on the other hand, have a library in Youtube filled with my work. I am working on putting a showcase together to display my work.
My final presentation is a sum of what happened throughout the year under Trump’s lead. It is also a sample of the work I have done too throughout the semester in my journalism class. I have written and recorded many scripts that are pretty darn good. https://soundcloud.com/renee-figaroe/ct399-revised-corona-virus-1027
My future is bright I see myself using my strongest skills; my ability to write and communicate will take me the farthest in my future endeavors.
I attended an information session for Made in NY. I am hopeful that I will be asked to be a part of the training session that will ultimately lead to employment within the media industry.
I have attended a virtual black career fair. It was strange but I got the idea of what I had to do. I uploaded my profile with my resume.
I have started to apply for procurement positions with several different companies. At this point, I need to try every avenue to get my foot in a door. Once I am in then I can branch off into whatever I choose.
My big goal is to gain employment hopefully within the entertainment industry as a production assistant, but I am not going to hold my breath waiting for it. I will continue to knock on doors.
i honestly wish i could have been more active in this course but due to personal circumstances, i wasn’t able to enjoy it as often as i would have liked. i have scrolled through the site and read/checked out everyone else’s posts and it’s very nice to see people actually getting to fulfill their goals and dreams. this course seemed to help everyone get on the right track and explain to one another their future plans and where they want to go further into their careers.
me, on the other hand, is still a bit iffy about the path i am currently working on. talking about the future sometimes scares me, but i eventually will figure out what it is i will and how i will accomplish my goals hereafter!
Wrap it up
This class was amazing!! I had a class like this when I was in high school but of course, it was not taught like this class at all. I came into this class wondering well what kind of things am I going to make for my portfolio. I was totally wrong with that information but I am content with the things I’ve learned. I feel like I am still a bit lost when it comes to my future because I learned so much in college that I’ve come to love. I feel like I will always bounce around until I am concrete with a profession. Professor Micheal Smith has always been a great professor and it was great to have him break down things in the real world. From internships to goals in the future, to how to write a professional email to future people we may want to work with. I appreciated everyone in my group that guided me in my final project and what I can work on or options I can consider, including Professor Smith. Thank you everyone for a great semester we did it!
