Final Reflection

I enjoyed this class, there were some tough questions I had to ask myself. My Big Goal is to become an Artist/Content Creator. It has taken me some time to get my aesthetic right, and I definitely need to work on creating a better fanbase. But I will say my path has become somewhat clearer. As a person who can be hard to fit in one box, I was having trouble seeing where I wanted most of my energy to develop, content-wise. Future peers made me see where I can be and possible outcomes. Linkedin showed me where I should invest my time and find networks similar to mine. I will be looking into more internships, currently looking for a creative space that’s making big moves. Everything helped, especially talking with my group, I wish everyone the best in their future endeavors.

Digital Presence w/Kel

The person I chose was an artist that goes by the name of “earnest.” He is a singer/songwriter and content creator. I’m a fan of the aesthetic and the effort he puts in. I feel I’m able to apply some of his techniques to my work while improving my style. Maybe this will help with marketing and will help attract a new audience. https://www.instagram.com/earnest.x/?hl=en

Everything is in my slide presentation. I can’t wait to display what I have in the vault.

Peer Research

It was surprisingly harder than I thought to find an artist with a website. I searched and searched and all I could find was a lot of landing pages. That is very popular in the artist community and is just a third party website allowing you to post links to each of your preferred content distributors. I feel as if websites aren’t as beneficial to certain fields or it’s just not needed as much unless you’re selling merch. Definitely, something to think about as far as cost-benefit.

Need a mentor/internship

For a person like me, it’s always been hard to put myself, talents, and thoughts into a specific category. I have a lot of interests all closely related that I would love to dig deeper into. However, it feels like I need more guidance to see what field I really would flourish in. I wanna take some more time to really understand what makes me happy. I get tired of what I actually love or think I love at times. So maybe I need a mentor before an internship or vice versa.

Having a TUFF TIME

Sometimes that doubt seeps in and while you really just want what’s best for you. Sometimes it feels like the wrong decision, I start to think is there any room for me? The highly saturated music industry definitely brings up those questions at times. Sometimes it feels like a gamble and I know they say life is a gamble, but I prefer to have the greater odds in my favor. I just want to win in life in anything I do. However, I see now it’s the work ethic that has to be super sufficient in order to make things actually fall inline. A lot of honesty and truthfulness with yourself can take you a long way.

Linkedin was cool ngl

I did my research on the popular music platform COLORSXSTUDIOS. I found useful information on Paul Lorton, an audio engineer located in Germany, who worked with many mainstream artist. In his feild of work, he is in charge of tracking and mixing the vocals for their show. However, after hearing what my peers did to research, I realized it is also important to see growth of the person you want to intern with, and to have a great portfoilo of work of your own. It is essential for others to get a better understanding of who you are, as well as your online presence.

Big Goal

What’s good y’all, my main goal after graduating college (hopefully before that) is to become a full-time artist, this has definitely been my dream job since I was young. However, I know it takes time to get your foot through that door. So I picked up a skill in audio engineering that coincides with the main goal. I fell in love with editing vocals and tracking sessions for my clients. There’s plenty of opportunity to network and such through the recording process alone. I wanted to be able to record myself and, now I currently am a freelance audio engineer. I worked really hard to teach myself how to configure my DAW of choice and now the studio feels like home. I briefly interned at a nearby studio with a Grammy award-winning engineer and that’s when I knew I really wanted to be in the studio and get the most of my income that way. Youtube has taught me most of all I know ( the GOAT) and I’ll continue to use YouTube, as well as the new resources from my studio encounters to further my journey. I wish you all well in your future endeavors.

First Class was a Blast.

I don’t know if we have to be formal on here but… this class was dope so far. Discord was cool to use and I recognized some of my friends in the class as well, and it seems like everyone else is easygoing… so I’m not mad at it at all. I just hope we have a successful year and figure out our next steps. -King Kel
