Project Update – CT
In the last class I said I was going to focus on TV production. After doing a little more research on jobs in the media field I found some interesting ones that I would love to maybe do one day. For example a Social Media Manager, a Television/Film/Video Producer, Event Manager, and photographer. My two main goals I would say are Social Media Manager or photographer.
Social Media Manager as one of my focuses because a social media manager can be hired for varies production companies, even small business hire social media manager to help lead an organizations social media strategy in order to boost visibility and customer and client engagement.
Photographer is one of my second focuses because I am currently a photographer. I opened a small business called RoseMedia. I actually really like photography.
I want my focus to still be The Jersey Shore, but following one of those context.
These are some remote jobs I found hiring for social media managers.
Playtime is over
Today I had to sit down and think about my future and how to secure it. It’s one thing to know what you want to do in life but, finding your way there is another thing altogether. I used to stress myself out thinking about the process but now that I have a detailed guide, its not so bad. I intend to become a director of photography. However, that title is at the top of the totem pole, I will have start out as a Production Assistant and work my way up the ladder, picking up essential skills as I go along.
Having a TUFF TIME
Sometimes that doubt seeps in and while you really just want what’s best for you. Sometimes it feels like the wrong decision, I start to think is there any room for me? The highly saturated music industry definitely brings up those questions at times. Sometimes it feels like a gamble and I know they say life is a gamble, but I prefer to have the greater odds in my favor. I just want to win in life in anything I do. However, I see now it’s the work ethic that has to be super sufficient in order to make things actually fall inline. A lot of honesty and truthfulness with yourself can take you a long way.

Week 4- looking my future in the face
I got to win that last week was very nerve-wracking based on my last post. I really felt like I had no idea where I was going with my life, but now I feel like I got a better picture, and I’m ready to face it.

That means that I still have a long way to go. Still, seeing Olivia’s video a sparked an idea of what I should be aiming for with my podcast idea but also it made me realize that you don’t have to have everything planned out because while talking to her, she didn’t have everything planned out and it’s still modifying certain aspects. I think the most important lesson I learned today is taking things one step at a time; eventually, you’ll get there.

So throughout this week, I have just been looking up some of my favorite podcasters that do video games such as the black Hokage and also The last stand they both have Spotify podcast I just been listening and also been listening to non-video game podcast like the Joe Rogan to get a sense of what works for them and what I should be doing.

Through the help of the professor, using GIF while doing videos would be really beneficial to distinguish me because I always use it for blog posts; however, I would still need more practice on how to make it work, so as of right now, I’m just going to continue working on making more blog posts and resume putting more blogs up on my website (which I haven’t done in a minute)
Still got a long way to go, but so far, I feel confident of where I’m going, and as long as I stick on this roadblock, I’ll be fine nervous but doing okay.

put your best foot forward
This portfolio class is getting interesting by the weeks because now its realizing my goals after college. I want to learn a lot from TV production and media. So many things but I have to only pick one. Thanks to a classmate for helping me narrow down my options I decided to pick a topic of food industry. In food industry there is always video footage or pictures surfing up of good tasting foods.for my proposal idea I was thinking of getting ideas of different food plates etc. I’m still not sure how I’m going to do all this but I do know I am one step closer to something amazing!
a “big goal” final project
what processes are important to track in order to be successful? what did you learn in situations where you were not successful?
some processes that are important to track in order to become successful are your goals that have be set, your planning, disciplining yourself and your essential skills or qualifications that will help you get to where you want to be.
what i learnt from not being successful in certain situations is to push myself harder. don’t allow myself to give up so easily. if you really want something, it is important that you work for it. you need to strive for it. unsuccessful situations can lead people to become discouraged of course, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t worth another try. trials and errors are pretty common before getting something to be perfect. it takes time. eventually you will get there, which has helped me recently with a lot of situations.
Future Peers
I found my future peer on LinkedIn. His name is Taylor S. Aside from his LinkedIn profile, he has a big online presence on Instagram, Artstation.com and webtoons.com. He job title is Animator, Illustrator and Sequential Artist.
I gained several tips and insight on how I can start on my own career path from looking at his LinkedIn profile. Taylor interned at the Glimpse Group while he was still taking classes at the Fashion Institute of New York and his roles were to design characters, and create comic pages for the company. After he graduated FIT, he also interned at Etomon, where he created illustrations for their email list and website.
Furthermore, Taylor also created and manages his own comic series on the website, Webtoons. His work is very impressive and visually appealing. He also posted all his past and current work on the website Artstation.com. I didn’t know about that website until I stumbled upon Taylor’s profile. I plan to do more research on the website and may even post my work as well. Taylor also created an Instagram page dedicated to his work and comic series.
In all, from studying Taylor’s online presence I’ve learned that its better to present yourself on many different platforms so you can reach more potential employers and get more networking opportunities. It’s also useful to start early in your career by interning while still attending school.
Finding Future Peers
Throughout the class of trying to find future peers, it wasn’t easy at all. I tried avoiding Google and used the links suggested to find people, but it was more difficult than I could ever imagine. It’s hard finding people who have similar interests in what you like. When I do find someone, I feel intimidated about the years of experience that they have compared to what I can do. Professor Michael suggested looking at video production assistants, and it helped a lot. I found someone that sounds interesting to me named Whitney Lee. She has a passion for storytelling and wants to create meaningful content. That is something that I always enjoy doing in the future. Even though she has some experiences than I do, I feel like she can show me the ropes on what I can do to gain more experience for myself. Whitney seems to help people a lot, whether if it is creating something or not. I want to produce content, which can send my audience a message that can be heart-warming and meaningful to them.
