During the whole semester of taking CT 399, I’ve learned a lot from this class. The class really helped make me think more about my goals in the future. Everyone in the class was friendly and helpful to one another. I envy a lot of them who know what they want to do when they graduate. I have learned a lot from listening to others from the final class we had. Everyone seems to have a lot of work out there such as having an Instagram, blog site, and etc. I did put my videos on my YouTube and it’s unlisted, but people told me I should just show off my work and see what happens. Since my original YouTube channel is full of the fun videos I do at school that have nothing to do with my serious work, I decided to separate the videos and put them on another channel. Not much is up right now, but I am working on putting all my stuff up there on the new channel. I’m still unsure what the future holds for me, but I will keep my head up high and keep pushing forward.

I have to say when doing my final project during the semester, the animation was pretty tough since I was tackling new things I haven’t done before. It took many trials and errors, but I managed to learn a lot from it. I got to work with voice actors, mouth movements, and etc. I’m not sure if being an animator is what I want to become due to the amount of work that goes into it. I really enjoy storytelling, so I want to do more production working with other people to create visual stories for people to see. I will still work on learning about animation on the side to have a skill set for companies looking for them. As for internship, I am still looking around to see what I can apply for, I have my resume fixed and ready. I just need to someone to review before anything while still looking for internship. I aim to find an internship that will expand my knowledge as well as helping them with the skills I already have.

I was looking for another future peer throughout the class and it wasn’t easy finding someone who is around my level. I did, however, found an inspirational peer. A guy named Dhar Mann runs his own production company. He creates hundreds of videos based on his own life experiences of success and failures. Dhar’s goal is to make powerful messages that resonate with his audience. His slogan is “we’re not just telling stories, we’re changing lives.”

After watching lot of Dhar’s videos, it really inspires me to makes content like that in the future. I enjoy making content in that similar storytelling format. When researching more about Dhar, I understood his objectives in what he wants to show his audience, helping people realize the value of being a good person in the world. I hope to one day do the same in the future as I keep improving my editing and storytelling.

The last class was about writing an email inquiry. In the beginning, I wasn’t sure how this was helpful to us, I did find it weird writing to someone who might not even respond back. After going through the exercise, I can see how it’s beneficial for us. It helps us communicate and connect with people that have experience and have a similar field study to us. To me, this sounds like you are looking for a mentor to help guide you with your questions or concerns to help improve yourself.

While writing the email, I wasn’t really sure what to write while using the sample. I did my best to write something that was praising the person as well as get to the point in what I contacted them for. Professor Michael gave some great advice on improving the email by telling me to be more specific in which of the work this person has done that interested me the most. This is so I am not vague about the information I am writing about. The class helped informed me about the importance of writing an email inquiry. I will put what I’ve learned to good use in the future.

During the last class on Oct. 30th, I had a good time seeing other people’s project ideas and as well as giving them advice on the requirements for the proposal. I remember hearing different project ideas such as a website based on game reviews/playing games or another person wanted to build their own shopping website. Hearing their plans for final project makes me see that they have a goal in mind that they want to reach; the final project is another step to help them achieve that.

I recommend you based on what you decide to do, you should pick something that you have some interest in as well as helping you in the future. Again, I mentioned before the animation I am doing is a 3-5 minute story that I created during the summer. I would have loved it if I turned it into a film, but covid came by, which led me to animation instead. However, it still shows off my storytelling in a visual way. Even though I find the animation process tiring, in the end, I feel like I will be proud of the product.

Researching for internships in the last class, I figured it would be difficult to find something. Since I don’t have a lot of experience under my belt with general knowledge of things. I wish I could have done more back then, but I know there’s nothing I can do to change the past. I am in the present and have to look forward to the future. When I was younger I wasn’t sure what I wanted to be at all, but when a few years ago I started watching short films on YouTube from creators I realized I wanted to do something like that. That is when I wanted to become a production producer. I know it’s not an easy task and I still have a lot to learn, but everyone has to start somewhere.

During the class, I managed to find two different companies looking for interns for video production. The first one “Daybreaker” seems to do a lot of video shoots about people’s expressions which I happen to like about, people who express themselves in unique ways. The other one “Cinqua” is about filming documentaries which I am also interested in. Both don’t seem to require a lot like other internships so if anyone is interested I would suggest taking a look at it as well.

I am currently working on final project for this semester. In all honesty, I didn’t want to do animation for my project, but because of the pandemic, I had no option. Even though I couldn’t do a short film as I originally wanted, I thought to myself I can still animate a story to show off my storytelling. The goal of mine is to make stories for an audience who can relate and connect to it. During the summer it took a while to figure out what I wanted to come up with. It took some time to write out my thoughts for a script and a proposal along with it.

During the class on Friday, I learned a lot of other people’s perspectives and ideas on what they wanted to do with their final project. I got to learn more about what others’ are interested in and what they hope to accomplish. One person in the group added a video with Adobe After Effects tips, it was helpful to make things easier while animating. Since animating isn’t my strongest point it is a good skill to have in case a company hires someone with a more variety of skill sets.

Throughout the class of trying to find future peers, it wasn’t easy at all. I tried avoiding Google and used the links suggested to find people, but it was more difficult than I could ever imagine. It’s hard finding people who have similar interests in what you like. When I do find someone, I feel intimidated about the years of experience that they have compared to what I can do. Professor Michael suggested looking at video production assistants, and it helped a lot. I found someone that sounds interesting to me named Whitney Lee. She has a passion for storytelling and wants to create meaningful content. That is something that I always enjoy doing in the future. Even though she has some experiences than I do, I feel like she can show me the ropes on what I can do to gain more experience for myself. Whitney seems to help people a lot, whether if it is creating something or not. I want to produce content, which can send my audience a message that can be heart-warming and meaningful to them.

The 2nd class was definitely interesting. The class helped me think a little more on what I want for myself. Honestly, I always shut myself from doing that because I was afraid that I might not figure out what I want to do in life. Some times I feel left behind seeing a lot of people knowing what they want to do with their lives and I’m still here trying to avoid it.

The class helped me open up a little more to myself and figure out what I want to do even though it is one step at a time. Someone told me that everyone goes at their own pace and I should focus on what I love doing. Doing storytelling through visuals is something I enjoy a lot. I may not be the best at it, but I want to create a lot to improve more and more.

Although I am still unsure if I want to attend grad school yet, right now I just want to find some internships to gain more experience for myself. I hope with this I will obtain more confidence and have a better understanding of myself in the future.

The first class was interesting, it was very interactive. I enjoyed the activity we did where we had to pick two classes that we liked and two classes that we hated. It brought back memories of those classes I took. Of course, there will always be good memories as well as bad ones. However, they are what gives us experience and shapes us as human beings.

It does make me think though that I am almost near the end of my college life. I never thought I would have made it this far. The friends I’ve made in college gave me the strength to keep pushing forward even when times were tough. I am scared of what the future has in store for me, but I know that I will be okay as long as I keep working hard and doing my best. Eventually, I will reach my destination at one point in my life.
