As in the last class we have learned about how to used The email inquiry to internship companies. I tried to created a email inquiry. The professor has explained that email inquiry is different from the Cover letter and a Thank you letter for the job, interviews. So, my group peer explain tried make something similar to the professor as possible. As I wanted created a second attempt email inquiry.

I hope this email finds you well. My name is Jonathan Soleimani and I am in my final year studying Communications Technology with a concentration in Web Design & App Development at York College/CUNY. I was excited to learn about you and your work while looking for internship positions here in New York. You have clearly had success in the field and I wonder if I could connect with you for an in Zoom interview or a quick phone call.

While I was in York, I had an job opportunity to work with Great Neck North High school helping web design after-school program. I have develop ideas to improved the design and updated. I am comfortable performing a wide range of job duties. I also want to share my portfolio site/personal to see if I can be used for any future aspire. I’d be happy to provide greater detail about my skills and experience during phone call. I’m happy to see you in Zoom or to call you at a time that is convenient for you.

During this wee I just worked on the Google Slide from the previous weeks!

During this class we spoke about internships and finding people who we would be able to email and speak about a position with. We were supposed to find five companies but I found two. I applied to one and unfortunately got rejected but now I’m aware of the questions they ask and the type of qualifications they ask for.

One of the companies I looked up (the one I applied for) was called TuneCore. They distributed and marketed independent and upcoming artists. They were associated with Spotify and worked from different parts of the world. They were located here in Brooklyn and I spoke the the TA Manager named Kathy Nikolz (kathy@tunecore.com). Overall I had about 4 video calls with them but unfortunately I didn’t get the position.

Another company that I looked up was called As Beauty Group, they were partnered up with the beauty brands called Julep and Laura Geller. A person I know works there named Kimberly Dorce. I spoke to her to get to know her job in the e-Commerce field and also ask to be redirected to the marketing team. I got an email from her and it is (adominguez@asbeautyco.com)

During this class we were to set up our final project presentations. Down below I have linked the Google Slide that I created during class! All comments, feedback, and additional features I should add are greatly appreciated!

During this week we spoke about our future peers and the people in the positions we would like to be in. During class I keep finding people on LinkedIn without any contact information which made it hard for me to write to them. I realized I had acquaintances who worked in a similar field I was interested in.

Coming from the beauty field I remembered meeting a lot of marketing workers there. Two women that stood out to me were Keila Gonzalez and Kimberly Dorce. Keila specializes in Brand and Web design, Kimberly specializes in Marketing and E-Commerce. When you look at Keila’s work its very light and simple Kimberly works for a beauty marketing organization where they create content and include the entire team in their social posts especially for the companies they partner with.

I have done flyers for small businesses and created content for companies such as Sephora and e.l.f Cosmetics.

When we spoke about big goals we were placed into groups. I was indecisive about what I wanted to share due to the facts I have other goals I’d like to accomplish as well. While researching and looking at my resume I really always wanted to get into the Social Media and Digital Marketing team.

On of my main “big goals” would be to become a social media/ digital marketing manager. To start tasks in this field I could help and work with small and upcoming businesses and owners. I can help them create, plan out, and bring more clients to their brand. By doing so I’ll be able to create and add onto my portfolio and network.

At this moment I do know brand designers and people in e-commerce.

Today I was extra mad at myself because I over slept from doing homework for another class last night. Today I was late for class but I still did my best to take any advice that can be useful for me after college. Today I had to brain storm some people I look up to and think of a way to introduce myself and my major and what I would like to learn from the person etc. at first this was not easy but I started to think of how coviid this year has effected me a lot with not really being outside none less I have to but then I focused on the people I have me lt before that’s has a common interest in my field of study. Anyways, I got some good feed back an with use this information to use and I am going to change my email for a better introduction.

So for this week, we focused on how to apply for intern and surprisingly it doesn’t seem that hard until you realize first impressions count and one slightest mistake could cost you everything

Using the professor’s email inquiry and messing up on it I’ve realized that I don’t only have to use one technique in order to get an internship if you have multiple techniques that what they’re looking for make mention of it.

An example of that is if you’re into podcasting but they have a web designing division and they’re looking for someone who knows their way around a computer you can offer to help them and if you get in then you can ask about another division such as a podcast.

so currently I’m writing one email to Robyn Jordan the co-founder of black girls create about podcasting and how she got started with it but I’m also writing an email to Nicole Hill the community manager who runs her own blog called Black TADIS and I could get her opinion about how do you run a successful blog place and what does it take to run. The idea so genius I wish I thought of it myself

If everything works out I’ll be possibly an official member of the black girl create squad even though I’m not a girl but don’t worry I already have a solution to that

So today’s class was really important because it helped me reach out to potential people I can be working with. I was happy to speak with an intern at this place in LA but it is remote and I am glad. I hope to get a call back about the position if not I’ll always be looking out for more internship opportunities and if any of you guys have internships for me pertaining to web design I’ll be happy to look into it. Since I was hopeful to actually speak with someone about the company I will need to rewrite my email inquiry so it will be a follow up to the person who owns the company. My partners inquiries were good plus their research but the professor questions to my partner had me thinking.

Today we spoke about how to write a email to a current employ in a position we would like to work in. As the previous weeks we were told to not make the letter so straightforward and harsh in order to not scare them away but to make it more of an invitation to introduce ourselves and learn more about what they do and what their company is specifically looking for in a person before hiring them.

I was paired up today with Jonathan and Renee and they told me my introduction letter was straight to the point but also welcoming. I did make an error in the last line where I didn’t change the “in person interview” to a zoom interview but overall I believe it is a well written letter. I included a couple of things I did to help me learn more about the career I want and I feel like it could be a good topic to talk about in the call.
