This class has helped me in many ways. Im a person that usually takes it one day at a time, but this class helped me gather my thoughts today and actually set a goal. I wasn’t sure where I was headed or how to get there but taking this class made it seem less scary.

I learned to search for people that work in the post production field. I want to work in various aspects in that field, such as a Camera Operator, Editor, and much more. I Recently learned how to use After Effects and aim to become skilled enough to use my skills in the workplace. The more skills you have, the more valuable you are.

There are many things I have to do, such as search for an internship, reach out to them, develop a proposal,. I have more time on my hands so I will commit myself to crossing items off my checklist. Most importantly, I want to develop a digital presence, when I finish my other tasks, I will work on this be developing my own website, forming my own website.

I will use this post as well as other classmates posts as a guideline on what I have to do!!. My classmates are very intelligent people and I am inspired by how detailed their goals are.

My final project proposal is far from over but I have an idea of what I want to do. I want to make a documentary about a beat maker, and how it has impacted his life. In this documentary, I will explore his upbringing, how he learned his craft, and the valuable life lessons it has taught him. I will illustrate his passion for making beats and bring it to life with him film.

I began forming a blueprint for this documentary in my google slides, but I never finished. However, I had the hindsight to take notes which triggered my memory about a conversation Professor Michael and I had. My slide hardly contains any information but it is a start !!!, and a start is better than not starting at all. I have examples of other final proposals and I will use them as a reference !!, I have a plan, all I have to do is implement it and apply myself

In my search for peers, that started off as Film Production Assistants, I came across a few people.

Brandon Kaplan has experience as a Freelance Editor, Office Production Assistant, and much more. His linkedin page consists of many ventures and experiences working for different people that he culminated throughout the course of his life. He worked at CBS as a Freelance Editor, where he spent time editing promos for tv shows such as the Big Bang Theory and Celebrity Undercover Boss. His Vimeo page consists of many promos that he has worked on. I personally want to be able to go from place to place picking up new skills along the way !

My second candidate is Devon Halliday, She spent many years working as an editor for various jobs. In addition, she is an editor for one of my favorite shows, Blue Bloods. One of my main goals is to become an editor, but to reach that goal I have to start of as a Production Assistant. By looking through her linkedin page, I see how much time and effort she put into her craft. She spent 2 years working as a Post Production Assistant before finally working as an assistant editor for CBS. She has a Vimeo that contains most of her content, such as short films and so forth. By looking at her discography, I realize that it might take some years for me to develop myself and achieve my goal.

Both candidates are future peers that I have identified and are closely related to the path I want to career path I would like to pursue.

The peer that I researched today is Devon Halliday. She is an assistant editor for the show Blue Bloods. While looking at her linkedin page, I came across her resume. With every job she moved on to, she acquired new skills, fostering her talents and slowly making her way to her ideal workplace.

Observing her linkedin revealed a few facts to me. 1.) where there’s a will, there’s a way. 2.) you must put in effort, nothing is handed to you. There are more lessons I learned but I plan to implement them. Most importantly, I learned that I must have faith in myself. I want to work as a camera operator and develop new skills, I even want to shoot music videos, coming up with concepts and ideas .

the finish line is approaching faster than I realized.. and honestly im quite worried. I’m a laidback, overthinking person, so making all of these life altering decisions is a big step for me lol. However last weeks blog post really helped me layout a career path so im grateful for that. I will need more time to pick out the ideal internship but at least I know where to go.

Today I had to sit down and think about my future and how to secure it. It’s one thing to know what you want to do in life but, finding your way there is another thing altogether. I used to stress myself out thinking about the process but now that I have a detailed guide, its not so bad. I intend to become a director of photography. However, that title is at the top of the totem pole, I will have start out as a Production Assistant and work my way up the ladder, picking up essential skills as I go along.

my main goal is to work in the film industry as a camera operator or a position where I can also help edit videos. Today I searched up a post production assistant by the name of Devon Halliday. As I looked through his LinkedIn, I saw that he interned at many places and gradually worked to the point where he is a post production assistant for the show Blue Bloods!!. I often worry about my future, but looking at him makes me realize that things take time and opportunities will come to you if one works hard for them.

Today I thought about the goals that I wanted to accomplish. After some soul searching and mind pondering I came up with this .

” One of my goals is to advance my skills with editing, producing, cinematography. i just want to develop my skills as best as i can, thereby becoming an all around person, talented in many aspects of the film industry. As of now,  I want to work as part of a production crew, picking up skills and information that would eventually help me form my own production company but i’d rather work for somebody and acquire new skills and trades as i go along. I don’t have a particular company I want to work for yet but hopefully the internships I get into help nudge me in that direction.

I had a nice talk with the professor that helped point me in a direction that I will take some time to explore !!

I felt like it was a good start overall. The syllabus and objectives were outlined clearly and I had a nice time conversing with my classmates !. I look forward to meeting again
